The Canadian government has just announced that it is reducing the time limit for applications for permanent residence once candidates have received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) through Express Entry.
Your job, and the work you have done in the past, must be skill type 0, or level A or B to use Express Entry.
Two people bombed an Indian restaurant outside Toronto on Thursday night, injuring at least a dozen people, many of them diners, the police said.
The blast happened around 10:30 pm at the Bombay Bhel restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario, just west of Toronto. The Peel Regional Police said the two people set off an “improvised explosive device” in the restaurant before fleeing the scene. The police said the bombers were male, wore dark sweatshirts with their hoods pulled up and had covered their faces.

At least ten people were killed and 15 injured after a van plowed into pedestrians along a sidewalk called Yonge Street in Toronto on Monday.The day after this incident Canadians are grieving and looking for answers to the explain the attack.
Police in Toronto say they are still trying to pin down a motive while expressing certainty that the suspect intentionally plowed into the victims. Authorities say they have yet to find any evidence tying the incident to international terrorism.
But as investigators continue to process the mile-long crime scene, Toronto residents are asking a simple question: Why?
The prime minister also thanked first responders “who managed this extremely difficult situation with courage and professionalism.”
“They faced danger without hesitation, and their efforts no doubt saved lives and prevented further injuries,” he said.
Suspect Alek Minassian is due to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
Police said Minassian was from the northern Toronto suburb of Richmond Hill and was not previously known to authorities.
“The actions definitely looked deliberate,” said Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders.
So far, the name of only one of those who died has emerged.
She has been identified as Anne-Marie D’Amico, who worked for the US investment company, Invesco, CBC reports. The company’s Canadian headquarters are on Yonge Street.
A South Korean foreign ministry official told AFP news agency that two of its citizens were among the dead.
The 15 injured remain in hospitals throughout Toronto.
Ontario Provincial Police are warning motorists to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary due to a savage ice storm that slammed southern Ontario with ice pellets and freezing rain on Sunday, knocking off power to over 40,000 people.
Provincial police said there were roughly 750 crashes on highways surrounding Toronto on Saturday, and there had been nearly 700 more by early Sunday afternoon.
“We would prefer the highways to be empty and are encouraging all non-essential travel to be postponed,” said Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sgt. Kerry Schmidt in an update Sunday morning.

For the local Children’s Aid Society, the issue is a Harrow, Ont., mom’s decision to post photos of her punishing her two elementary-aged sons to social media.
In a Facebook post published Tuesday, the mother wrote she took action after getting a call from her sons’ school about their poor behaviour.
“That drew the line for me! This morning we did a 7 km walk to show them what everyday will be like for them when they get kicked off the bus!” she wrote.
“2 hours later they made it!” To protect the identities of the children, CBC News is not naming the mother.

The post had been shared more than 38,000 times by 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. It received more than 28,000 “likes” and other reactions and dozens of comments, most of which seem to celebrate the actions of a “real parent.”
“You re fricken rockin the mom hat girl good job,” wrote one commenter.
“Awesom job mom!!” added another. “This is how you raise children.”

The mother told CBC the older boy learned his lesson quickly, but said her younger son needed to walk a second day. She did not post that punishment to social media.
She said she received some backlash and threats after posting the pictures, so she made a preemptive call to the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) herself to explain her side of the story.
Tina Gatt, manager of community outreach for the Windsor-Essex CAS office, would neither confirm that call nor address whether the incident merits an investigation.
Gatt did say having kids walk to school to show them the “logical consequence” of misbehaving on the bus can be a reasonable punishment — as long as there are no safety threats, and there appear to have been no threats in this case.
The mother accompanied the boys on the walk and, in the photos, are seen alongside what looks like a quiet, rural road. Harrow is a community of less than 3,000 people, about 30 kilometres southeast of Windsor.
But “shaming” them on social media is not constructive, Gatt said.
“I don’t want to judge or pretend to know all of the nuances of this situation with this parent, but [it’s] something to consider when we think about putting signs on kids that says what the bad behaviour is and putting them in a position where you take their picture and put it on social media,” she explained.
“We would be concerned, and not just Children’s Aid, we should be concerned as adults, about shaming children.”
Gatt said shaming rarely works with adults and “simply is not going to motivate children to be better.”
She added it’s possible the mother was looking for reinforcement from her fellow parents that the punishment was just.
“For this parent, perhaps it was to get some acknowledgement from her peer group to say ‘Is this right?’” Gatt said. “But just to be shaming children is not motivating for good behaviour.”
Express Entry is the fastest, and most popular way to get Canadian permanent residence. But since candidates have to compete against each other to be invited to apply, it’s important to do everything you can to maximize your Express Entry points!
So we are listing few points which can help you increase your Express Entry Points.
But if you have good IELTS and post-secondary education can get you an additional 50 points. Good IELTS andat least three years of work experience can get you another 50 points.
You need to score at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 to be eligible for Express Entry under the Federal Skilled Worker program, which is at least 6.0 on each language ability on the IELTS. But if you can score CLB 9 in all language abilities, you could be looking at up to 260 Express Entry points for just your language ability.
It may not apply to some candidates, but if you have a spouse or common-law partner, you may be missing out on some points you can claim.
There are three possibilities here, and it’s worth looking into them all.
First, your spouse or partner may get you more points. By retaking a language test, or getting an educational credential assessment (ECA) for any post-secondary education they have, your spouse or partner could increase your Express Entry points.
Second, you may actually have a higher score as a single applicant.Since your profile is scored differently depending on whether or not you have an accompanying spouse or partner, depending on your spouse or partner’s profile, you may actually increase your score if you list them as non-accompanying. If you are granted permanent residence, you can still sponsor them to join you in Canada, but it does mean a period of separation.
Third, your spouse may actually be the stronger applicant. You should definitely run through the exercise of trying to calculate how many points your spouse would get if they were the principal applicant, with or without you accompanying them.
Immigration Tip: If you and your spouse or partner are both strong candidates, you can each submit a profile to the Express Entry pool and list each other as accompanying. That way you double your chances of success!
Going back to school is a pretty big investment to increase your score, but it can also have a big impact. A short program like a one-year post-secondary certificate could get you a lot of points. If you already have one post-secondary degree of three years or more, worth 120 points, and take a second one-year program, you can claim an additional 8 points for just education. If you already had CLB 9, and two years of Canadian work experience, you can claim an additional 50 points for skills transferability. That’s 58 total additional Express Entry points.
A significant number of CRS Express Entry points are available for proficiency in English and/or French.
As was the case before the changes introduced on June 6, single permanent residency candidates received up to 136 points for their first official language, and up to 24 points for their second official language. Candidates with an accompanying spouse/common-law partner can receive up to 148 points for the first language (taking into account both partners’ language skills), plus an additional 22 points for a second language (the accompanying spouse/partner may only be assessed for one language).
