  • You can now send letters to Santa via Canada Post

You can now send letters to Santa via Canada Post

The holiday season this time has been very different. We all are sitting at home watching feel-good Christmas movies. While I was watching one, I realized how kids love to send letters to Santa and how they also hear back sometimes (in movies). Up until now I thought this is all fictional but not anymore.

As I recently learned that you could send letters to Santa in real life as well courtesy of Canada post. As per their post on Instagram, they have launched their yearly campaign of Canada Post Letters to Santa program. They have been delivering letters to Santa for more than 40 years and have already delivered more than millions of letters!

Do people hear back from Santa?

As per reports, they apparently do. You can also write in any language and the chances are you will still hear back as the Santa team (with a little help from team Canada Post) in the North pole knows over 36 languages.

Please be advised that the number of letters Santa receives are so high that Canada post has requested kids to write their letters to Santa before December 10 just to make sure that you get a reply from Santa as well.

If you are wondering, how do you write this letter, then worry no more as there are templates that are available online that would help you. The next thing you do is put that letter in an envelope and write the address on the back as Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0, Canada.

After you have done all this, you can drop it off at the Canada Post mailbox and make sure you have written your return address so that you can expect your reply. Also, fun fact, you do not need any stamps. Now, what are you waiting for? Go write that letter and pour your feelings out, remember Santa is going to be reading them.

  • Should you be moving to Canada for studies during this COVID pandemic?

Should you be moving to Canada for studies during this COVID pandemic?

If you are planning to move to Canada during the Pandemic and are not sure whether you should be making this big move at this moment, then here are some key factors that you need to consider.

The most important one is the fact that is it even allowed for you to be moving to Canada right now. If your Designated Learning Institute (DLI) is not included in the list that you will find on the website – Canada.ca, you cannot travel to Canada to study at this time. If you try to travel to Canada when your DLI is not included, you may not be allowed to board your flight or you may be turned away at the port of entry.
Another factor in moving to Canada that you should consider would be finding part-time jobs which would not be easy in a pandemic as everything is closed except for essential services and even if your DLI is in the essential list, please keep in mind the fact that you might not end up getting a part-time job.

Moving away from home is hard as it is and on top of that if low and behold your test for COVID-19 comes to positive at any point. I know a friend who moved to Canada a couple of months back and his test was negative after he quarantined but a few days later, he started to feel sick. Once he took the test again, it was positive, and he had no place to quarantine. Thankfully, if you can’t quarantine on your own, the government takes care of it for you and you can let the officials know that you need a place to quarantine and they take you to a hotel and the stay of quarantine is paid for. Having said that, this whole experience is just not worth having.

Now comes the part of taking online classes in India which I really do not see the point of. Yes, you would be saving your money of GIC and the expense of living abroad but you would also be gaining no experience and still be paying very heavy tuition fees that too for studies that you can easily access online for free.

For me personally, the whole idea of studying abroad is the experience of it all. I would recommend waiting till we have the vaccine to move abroad to study, but you can do what feels right to you! Make sure to go through all the information online that you can find on the website Canada.ca about making this move and then take your decision.

  • Canada PNP Programs Where you can apply without A Job Offer

Canada PNP Programs Where you can apply without A Job Offer

Canada is a great destination for people who intend to build their businesses, education, finance, and social life. Canada extends a welcoming hand to immigrants who intend to live in any of its provinces and they are encouraged to apply through a paper-based process or through its online process by express entry.

However, a lot of people apply through the express process in order to access the provincial nominee programs(PNP). Each province has it’s own PNP program and how you apply depends on the PNP program that you’re applying to but first, you need to meet the requirements that make you eligible to apply to a province.
In order to motivate people to stay and earn an honest living, there are five(5) Canadian provinces whose PNP programs do not require a job offer.

These provinces offer immigration to applicants without a valid job offer on the basis that they are able and willing to work. The criteria for being eligible for their PNP program includes scoring at least 60 points in the province’s point grade system, identity proof, at least one year of tertiary education, at least one year of working experience in the last ten years relating to a specific field or occupation, and legal age, amongst others. These provinces are:

Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program ( SINP)
This province is well known for grain farming and the numerous natural water bodies that it has. Its capital is Regina and it is populated with over one million people that are happy to welcome immigrants from diverse backgrounds. This province offers employment to skilled individuals that are willing and able to work in modern industries and facilities in the province and thereby contribute efficiently to the growth and development of Canada’s economy.

Quebec Skilled Workers Program ( QSWP)
This is the second most populated province in Canada and it takes French as a second official language. The economy of this province is highly dependent on information and communication technology, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, biotechnology, and few natural resources. Its interaction with modern trends makes it a great choice for immigrants that wants to apply for a PNP program without a job offer.

    Alberta PNP Express System
This province is Canada’s fourth-most populated province and its capital is Edmonton. It boasts of several minerals and natural bodies. Its economy thrives on petroleum, agriculture, and technology. Alberta is the primary supplier and service hub for Canada’s crude oil.

    Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program
Nova Scotia ( New Scotland) is Canada’s second-smallest province as well as the second densely populated province in Canada. Its capital is Halifax and it has one of Canada’s major seaport. Its first criteria to be qualified for the PNP program is to be within the age bracket of 18-49 years while the other criteria remain the same with the other provinces listed above.

Prince Edward Island PNP Through Express Entry
This province is Canada’s smallest and most densely populated province. Its capital is Charlotte town and its economy thrives on agriculture, fishery, and few modern industries such as ICT, biotechnology, aerospace, and tourism. This province does not support a specific job list. It supports skilled workers from different cultures who are willing and able to work.

  • This couple reunited after being separated for nine months due to Covid

This couple reunited after being separated for nine months due to Covid

Kiera Norris had travelled to Shijiazhuang, China, and had been unable to return home since then.

When she travelled to January to China, she didn’t expect that she would not be able to meet her husband who was in Canada for another nine months. It came as a complete surprise.

Every three weeks, she packed her bags and went to the airport, hoping that even though the flights had come to a grinding halt, she would still perhaps be able to board a flight and head back home. But time and again, she had to face this disappointment of not being able to go back home. She finally reunited with her husband after nine long months. “It was really hard”, she said.

The couple has been married for about ten years now. The hardest part for them was to do things alone, as they were so habitual of each other that they’d do everything together. Norris said,” You know those couples that enjoy their time apart? We are not like that.” This just proves the amount of love that the couple has between them.

The couple has a business in China which is why they have a reason to travel there. Not only that, Norris’s family lives in China too. They usually travel together, however, this year, she planned to visit her family two weeks before her husband, and got stranded there because of the pandemic. Norris was able to schedule a flight in on March 19th, but the rescheduled it. They kept doing it, only to her disappointment, and the couple was well aware of the fact that this won’t end soon.

Both of them are nature lovers and spending time away from each other was very difficult for them. Kevin Norris said they would Facetime and Skype every day without a delay because they “like to keep that connection strong.”

In total, her plea to book a flight was rejected nine times. Finally, after nine months, she was able to board the plane that would get her back home to her husband.

Jagmeet Singh’s brother has been blessed with a baby girl, to which Jagmeet said that he may be more of a Grandfather to him than an uncle. A new member of the family was welcomed with a lot of warmth. Jagmeet Singh’s brother posted a picture of his daughter clicked in the hospital on social media. He went on stating that, “Through the will of the universal energy that connects us all, Satvir and I have welcomed a new force into this world.” After a few days, Jagmeet congratulated the couple on twitter for the addition of one more member in the family. He also stated that he is confused about his role in the kid’s life. He goes on stating that, “I can’t decide if I’m an uncle or a grandpa but you’re going to be an awesome poppa bear lil brother.” He also stated that the mother is going to raise a very strong and fierce daughter, just like her.
